In my previous post I made the realisation that goals should state an end and not the means. With this in mind and in retrospect my own documented number 1 goal was to –
- To consistently and perpetually maintain my first personal blog.
Sorry to say to myself here, but that is not an ends… a goal really needs deadline. It needs to be more specific. It needs more thought put into it. It requires an explicit vision. A pathway to the end of the rainbow so to speak. Above all it needs significance.
With that in mind. I’m going to rejig it –
- To build a blog that attracts 100 readers a day.
That’s better. Now ship to it.
The hard part is the how-to or the gumption. To attract 100 visitors a day, I’m going to have to build trust and add value and make use of all the tools available to me in terms of plug-ins and software.
I will need outside help. Unfortunately, as you get older with each day passing, my marginal utility of time forgone becomes increasingly expensive and time itself becomes more scarce. There’s only so much you can do by yourself.
Growing up I used to have the golden rule as my motto –
Do to others what you would them to do to you.
I used to run with it. Now that I have that motto down pat I going to run with a new motto –
Lets make a deal.
Lets see where that will take me.
